Although Buff Bagwell is better know for his successes as a tag-teamer, he definitely has the stuff to make it on the singles
circuit. The tough as nails grappler made his pro debut more than 10 years ago and was immediately a hit with both the femmale
and the male fans. The men wanted to have his physique, while the women lusted over his chiseled body.
The Georiga native began his career in 1990, wrestling under the name of Fabian for All Star Wrestling, located in his hoome
state. While at All Star, he was paired with chris walker, and it took the two no time to captuere the federation's tag team
belts. A year later,he had not only changed his ring name, but also federation's. Bagwell moved on to Global Wrestling, where
he was known as "the Handsome Stranger."
His time in the spotlight at Global got him noticed in 1992, WCW came calling. Immediately they changed his name to Marcus Bagwell
and put him on the tag circuit, where he was paired with 2 Cold Scorpio. The twosome hit it off in the ring and immediately became
fan favorites. Before you knew it, they were going for the gold. On October 4, 1993, in Colubus, Georgia, Bagwell and Scorpio faced
the Nasty Boys for the WCW tag title, and Marcus wouldn't disappoint his hometown fans as he and 2 Cold scorpio came away with the
victory and belts that night.
Less than a month later at Halloween Havoc they would lose the belts to the same Nasty Boys,in New Orleans, but Bagwell didnt care
as he was now in the big time and on the way to not only becoming a star in the federation, but more inportant, beeing voted WCW
Rookie of the Year. When his tag partner left the federation, bagwell hooked up with The Patriot and formed a new pairing called Stars
and Stripes.
Together, Bagwell and The Patriot would win the tag belts twice. And they earned their stripes by making their opponents see stars. They
won their first title on September 25, 1994, against a team known as Pretty Wonderful. The Wonderfulduo got their revenge on october 23
at Halloween Havoc in Detroit, Michigan , when they won the belts back from the Stars and Stripes tandem.
But the S&S team would have pretty wonderful laugh in the end as Bagwell and the Patriot again beat their foes for the belts on November 16,
at the Clash Of Champions(29) in sunny Jacksonville, Florida. 22 Days later, they lost their titles to the Harlem Heat in Atlanta, Ga.
In 1995, Bagwell again took on another teammate and led him to golden tag pastures. The 6"1', 247-pound tag specialist was now sharing the
spotlight with Scotty Riggs as the American Males tag team. The two struck gold on September 18, 1995, at theFall Brawl in Johnson City,
Tennessee, where they defeated the Harlem Heat for the straps. But the duo held on to the belts for only 11 days because the Harlem Heat
won them back in Bagwells home state on September 27 in Atlanta,Ga.
In 1996, Bagwell wanted to try something different. Hulk Hogan was calling any and all WCWers to latch on to his defiant group, the NWO, that
was looking to take over the federation. Bagwell decided toto turn his babyface and go heel. He abandoned Riggs and The American Males and went
for the black and white of the NWO. He no longer wanted that clean-cut, loverboy image. Instead he wanted to be on the dartk side. As a matter
of fact, Buff, as he was now known, was paired with Scott Norton for a while and they were known around the ranks as the "Viscious & Delicious"
pair. He also teamed with "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner for a while and the twosome ran roughshod over the WCW for some time.
Just when it looked like his career was going to take off, he suffered a major setback that not only almost cost his creer, but also the feeling
in his body. On April 22, 1998, on a nationally televised match against Rick Steiner, Bagwell severely injured his spinal; cord and neck in front
of millions of viewers and fans.
Buff not only showed that he had the stuff to return, but he proved he could still be a force in the ring. 10 Months after his scare in the ring
he was back pummelling opponents. He would even strike gold again not too long after the accident when he won the tag title with "The Franchise"
Shane Douglas on April 4, 2000.
The wrestler who combines a unique blend of power and quickness has proven over his career that he was what it takes to be a major player in the
wrestling world. The only thing left for this wrestling superstar is to decide where he wants to strutt hi stuff---- on the good side or th dark side.
