Show will be updated tomorrow night. 4/9/04

The show opened with a highlight montage of recent major storylines focused primarily on the perplexing, unpredicable behavior of Jeff Jarrett lately.

Mike Tenay and Don West introduced the program.

(1) Don & Ron Harris beat Sandman & New Jack and Slash & Brian Lee in a three-way tag match when they pinned Sandman at 8:20. Wild bloody brawl all over with crazy balcony dives by New Jack.

Goldy interviewed the former Bart Gunn about his match against Saturn latter. D-Lo interrupted and demanded a match against Mike Sanders. Glen Gilbertti said he'd make it happen. He sent Chris Harris to get Sanders.

Dusty Rhodes was interviewed as part of the Interrogation segment.

(2) Dusty Rhodes beat Brian Lawler in a ladder match. Dusty did dive off the top of a ladder, but it was a step ladder. David Flair interfered. Nikita Koloff ran out and made the save, and got the belt, and handed it to a leery Dusty. Erik Watts yanked the belt out of Dusty's hands afterward to re-steal the belt.

Harris told Sanders that Gilbertti has a message for him. Sanders admitted he has heat with everyone and exchanged words with Harris.

(3) A.J. Styles pinned Glen Gilbertti at 7:35. Gilbertti attacked the ref after the match because Styles had his feet on the ropes during the pin. Gilbertti attacked the ref afterward.

Gilbertti told Sanders that he is one of them and that SEX would have his back later.

(4) Desire pinned Athena at 0:20 when David Young turned on Athena and slammed her at the start of the match. Young put on an SEX t-shirt.

Mike Barton (a/k/a Bart Gunn) attacked Saturn during an interview.

(5) Saturn beat Mike Barton at 7:35 via tapout.

Slash and Lee attacked New Jack and Sandman in the midst of an argument about their loss earlier.

(6) D-Lo Brown pinned Mike Sanders. Lame match. D-Lo looked sluggish and his offense was really mundane. The booking was perplexing, too, since D-Lo sold most of the match, which considering Sanders's lack of serious push lately made D-Lo seem like a prelim wrestler, not a hot title contender fresh from being underutilized by WWE. The ship has already sailed on D-Lo's chances of having any impact on TNA based on his jumping from WWE.

(7) Raven pinned Kid Kash at 7:30.

(8) Jerry Lynn & Amazing Red won a four-way match over Christopher Daniels & Elix Skipper, Chris Saban & Jony Storm, and Shark Boy & Jason Cross. Lynn and Red will face each other in the future to earn an X Title shot.

Mike Tenay interviewed Jeff Jarrett in the ring for the "main event" of the PPV. You know, the finale that you paid $9.95 to see. Jarrett said he is under pressure and seemed ready to crack. Raven came out and taunted Jarrett. Jarrett ended up swinging a chair and hitting Dusty Rhodes to end the show.

4/2/04

Mike Tenay announced D-Lo Brown would challenge Jeff Jarrett for the NWA Title and Jerry Lynn would challenge Kid Kash for the X Division title.

Glen Gilbertti stood in the ring and tried to talk D-Lo into seeing his side. A.J. Styles ran out and attacked Gilbertti. Gilbertti actually handed it to Styles, outbrawling him until security intervened. Raven and D-Lo also came out and had staredowns until The Harrises and Sonny Siaki came out.

In a pretaped sitdown interview, Jerry Lynn convinced Konnan that he respects lucha libre.

-Raven talked with Goldy Locks about the burden of his childhood and his destiny to win the NWA Title. He stumbled through the interview, though, and ended up yelling at fans for heckling him.

(1) Brian Lawler (w/David Flair) beat "Wildcat" Chris Harris at 6:57. Lawler used Flair's stolen NWA Title belt as a weapon. Dusty Rhodes came out and made the save for Harris. He gave Lawler and Flair a hard time for stealing a belt rather than earning it. Lawler challenged Dusty to a ladder match next week for the belt. Dusty accepted. Tenay wondered if Dusty was thinking straight.

Saturn and Sandman said SEX have no right calling themselves extreme. James Mitchell said his New Church wouldn't be supplying them with a partner. Tenay wondered who the third partner would be.

(2) Trinity beat Alexis Laree. Afterward, Raven DDT's Trinity. Kid Kash watched and walked away rather than save Trinity, setting him up as the strong heel for the Lynn X Title match later.

Goldy asked Jarrett about rumors that he's been acting differently lately. He grabbed her by the throat and said it's not beneath him to kick her ass.

(3) New Jack & Saturn & Sandman beat Don & Ron Harris & Christopher Daniels. New Jack is the first "TNA surprise of the week." He came out with a trash can lid and bashed the SEX team in the head. West said it's like they've travelled back in time. It was a wild brawl. Lee attacked both Harris and New Jack during the match.

Kid Kash told Goldy that Trinity's place is in the corner, not trying to get herself over. He said she's going to show her where her place is. In the background, Chris Harris yelled at James Storm for not being there for him earlier.

(4) David Young pinned Sonny Siaki at 4:00. Siaki sold it as a huge upset after the match. Young and Athena then handcuffed Siaki to the ropes, then Young gave Desire a spinebuster.

(5) Ron "The Truth" Killings pinned Elix Skipper at 9:00.

A home video aired of Erik Watts cutting a promo on Jeff Jarrett with Brian Erlacker sitting around on a couch. Another video aired with Watts with Neil McCoy and Ira Dean. Another video aired with Watts hanging out with Mark Rypien and Jim McMahon at a bar. Finally, another video aired of Watts with Jim Daly.

West plugged next week's line-up including Sandman & Saturn vs. The Harris Brothers in a weapons match with weapons stashed all over the arena, plus Dusty vs. Lawler and a big NASCAR announcement.

(6) Kid Kash pinned Jerry Lynn to retain the X Title at 11:45 after a man in a black Venom bodysuit DDT'd Lynn.

(7) Jeff Jarrett pinned D-Lo Brown after interference from Mike Sanders backfired against D-Lo. After the match Raven and Jarrett were about to square off when Alexis Laree went after Jarrett. Jarrett turned and nailed her with a chair as the show ended. ***end of show***

3/26/04

March 26th began with Goldylocks singing "America The Beautiful" in honor of the troops fighting overseas.

A video package of recent events was shown.

AJ Styles stormed into the Sports Entertainment Xtreme locker room with a chainsaw. Styles screamed at Glen Gilberti for costing him the NWA World title. Styles told the group that they "sucked", and challenged Gilberti to get in the ring for a match. Gilberti played it that the challenge was for all of SEX, despite Mike Sanders pointing out that the challenge was for him. Gilberti said he didn't have his gear, and that since Mike Sanders lost to Hacksaw Duggan, he could redeem himself by facing AJ Styles right now.

AJ Styles defeated Mike Sanders in eight minutes. After some back and forth action, Styles hit a superkick and went for the Spiral Tap, but Sonny Siaki shoved him off the top rope. Gilberti ran onto the apron to distract the referee. Sanders accidentally superkicked Siaki. Gilberti got on the apron again, but Styles rammed Sanders into Gilberti and rolled him up for the pin. After the match, Gilberti and Sanders got into a shoving match, with Siaki calming them down.

The history leading to Jerry Lynn vs. Konnan was shown.

Jerry Lynn defeated. Konnan in 5:30. Konnan came out and said that he would end the "X-Lax" Division tonight. After a good amount of back and forth action, Lynn went for a cradle piledriver, which Konnan countered, but Lynn countered again and rolled up Konnan for the three count. After the match, a masked man in a yellow and orange outfit stormed the ring and gave Lynn a dropkick off the top and a swinging DDT. The masked man ran off, with Konnan acting like he didn't know who it was.

Mike Tenay had a sit-down interview with Jeff Jarrett. Tenay said Jarrett would not be on the show tonight, due to charity commitments. They discussed AJ Styles, Raven and Ron Killings as challengers to the title. They talked about D'Lo Brown having a contractual clause that gives him a title shot, and Jarrett said he would get it. When Erik Watts was brought up, Jarrett said he was a joke as a legitimate contender. They talked about David Flair walking around with Ric Flair's World Title belt. Jarrett said there were only three of those belts in the world, Ric Flair's (that David has), Jarrett's, and one that Dusty Rhodes has. Tenay asked Jeff Jarrett if he regrets making things personal with Vince Russo. Jarrett told Tenay he could not believe he asked him that.

A video on Raven and his quest for the NWA World Heavyweight Title was shown.

Jim Mitchell, Brian Lee and Slash came out to the ring. Mitchell talked about the "Sadistic Madness" match, where there were no rules, except that pinfalls could only be counted when the downed opponent was bleeding. Chris Daniels, Elix Skipper and the Harris Brothers came to the ring. Daniels got on the mic, and said that "SEX as a better religion" since they had four men in the ring, while the New Church only had two men in the ring. Daniels and Mitchell exchanged verbal barbs, then a brawl broke out. Sandman ran in to help the New Church, but they were still outnumbered. The lights went out, and a graphic introducing Perry Saturn appeared. The lights came on, and Saturn suplexed all the members of SEX in the ring, including suplexing Daniels over the top rope to the floor.

A video on Dusty Rhodes was shown, as he prepares for his Bunkhouse Brawl challenge. Rhodes was collecting weapons for his match. Rhodes said he loves the future, but he respects the past, unlike David Flair, Erik Watts and Brian Lawler. Rhodes promised to teach Flair respect tonight, and take the NWA belt, that Flair has no respect for, from him.

The events from last week, where Sonny Siaki laid out Athena, and David Young made the save, was shown.

David Young was in the ring, and called out Athena, who was in a neckbrace. Young challenged Sonny Siaki to come out for a match.

David Young vs. Sonny Siaki ended in a no-contest in 5:47. Young called in Athena at the end to kick Siaki low, then Desire ran in and attacked Athena. Siaki hit Young with Siakolypse Now as the referee called for the bell. Young was handcuffed to the ropes, while Siaki hit the Siakolypse on Athena, with Young forced to watch.

Goldylocks interviewed Amazing Red about his problems with Kid Kash and Trinity. Alexis Laree walked in, and said that Trinity was a "garnish", just like Goldy. Goldy asked Alexis her name, and Laree said her name was "Screw you, bitch".

Next Generation (Erik Watts, Brian Lawler and David Flair) came to the ring. Watts made fun of Jeff Jarrett, and mocked him for going to a charity event tonight. Watts said he didn't come for a title shot, because he didn't want the belt. He said he just wanted to get in Jarrett's head. Watts then said he just really wanted to be Jarrett's head. The lights went out, and when they came back on, Jarrett was in the ring, and busted a guitar over Watts' head. Lawler and Flair dragged Watts from the the ring. Jarrett asked if anybody else wanted a piece of him. D'Lo Brown came out, and told Jeff he should not complain about people coming after him, since he was the champion. Brown said that Jarrett forgot to talk about him when discussing challengers. Brown said Jarrett promised him a title shot when he came to TNA. Brown said nothing was personal, it was all about business, and Brown wanted to be the champion. Brown said that since Raven wasn't around for his title match, Brown would take it. Jarrett said Brown wanted a handout, but if he wanted it, he could have it tonight. Glen Gilberti and the Harris Brothers came out. Gilberti said this was not the WWE, and that "they don't check their brains at the door" when they come in. Gilberti said Raven was the number one contender. Gilberti said that since Raven was supposed to get a title match, and since he wasn't there, SEX had control over who would get the next title match. Gilberti said that when Brown fights Jarrett, he'll have to deal with others, because Jarrett was a rotten "son of a bitch". Gilberti then said Brown will get his title shot, but will get it next week. Gilberti said that SEX will be in Brown's corner next week, and when he wins the title, he will join SEX. Brown got in Jarrett's face, and said he would take him on next week. Jarrett said he would put Brown in his place next week, and told Gilberti that by the end of the night, he would learn why his old saying was "don't piss me off".

Mike Tenay and Don West discussed the events that just took place, and that they were awaiting on word as to whether the match was official. Tenay said he wished TNA had an acting commissioner that could make these decisions immediately.

Dusty Rhodes defeated David Flair in a bunkhouse match in three minutes. Dusty dominated early, bloodying Flair. Flair poked Dusty in the eyes, but Dusty took back over, hitting bionic elbows and using various weapons on Flair, before finishing him off with a cowbell shot to the head. After the match, Rhodes picked up the NWA World title belt that Flair has been carrying around. However, Brian Lawler ran in and snatched the belt from Rhodes and ran down the aisle with it.

Goldylocks interviewed Chris Harris & James Storm about Harris having a singles match. Harris said it was no big deal, and that once in a while he just wants to prove to himself that he can still do it on his own. Storm didn't say anything.

Amazing Red & Alexis Laree defeated Kid Kash & Trinity. Kash and Red started with a nice exchange and neither man getting an advantage. Kash spit at Red. The had another exchange, but didn't quite seem in sync with each other. Kash took a poke at Laree, who came in and chopped Kash. Kash and Red went back at it, with Kash using more heel tactics. Laree tagged in, but Kash tagged out to Trinity. Trinity hit Laree with a dropkick for a two count. Trinity worked over Laree's arm, then Trinity yanked her down by her hair. Red came in and distracted Trinity, and Laree hit her with an ax kick. Laree suplexed Trinity. The ladies collided in the ring, and both tagged out. Red took over on Kash, and it broke down, with all four participants in the ring. Red hit a top rope sunset flip powerbomb on Kash. Trinity hit a moonsault on Laree. Red and Kash were the legal men in the ring, but the referee counted Trinity's pin on Laree. Kash was annoyed that Trinity got the win, and left the ring without her.

Goldylocks interviewed Jerry Lynn about who it was that attacked him. Lynn said he didn't know who it was. Goldy said Konnan didn't know who it was either. Jerry didn't believe Konnan.

D'Lo Brown defeated Chris Harris. The two stalemated early, and shook hands. Brown started to take control, and hit a flapjack and legdrop. Harris came back with a Thesz press and hit a top rope bodypress for a two count. Brown sidestepped Harris, and Harris speared the referee. Brown hit the Sky High spinebuster, but missed the Lo Down frog splash. Harris missed a top rope elbowdrop. Glen Gilberti ran in and hit a stunner on Harris. Sonny Siaki woke up the referee. Brown rolled onto Harris for the pin.

Tenay and West said it was now official that D'Lo Brown will challenge Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Title next week, and if Brown wins, he will join SEX.

They replayed Jeff Jarrett's guitar shot on Erik Watts from earlier tonight.

The Sadistic Madness match was the main event, where you could only be pinned if you are bleeding. Ron & Don Harris came out first. Christopher Daniels & Elix Skipper came out next. Ring Announcer Jeremy Borash said they were the "defending" champions, but Tenay clarified that the belts were not on the line. Brian Lee, Slash and Jim Mitchell came out next. Sandman then came out, doing his traditional beer drinking entrance, then Perry Saturn came out. Mike Tenay pointed out that Sandman was already bleeding from ramming a beer can into his forehead. Saturn started out for his team, suplexing Skipper and Daniels, and even suplexing both men at the same time. It broke down into a all-out brawl two minutes in. The Harris brothers isolated Sandman, powerbombing him on a chair, but Brian Lee broke up the pin. Outside the ring, the Harris Brothers kicked a chair into Slash's face, busting him open. Saturn and Skipper fought in the ring, while the brawl spilled into the crowd. Daniels got in the ring and took down Saturn with a leg lariat and a Russian leg sweep. Saturn came back with a sidewalk slam. The Harris brothers, Sandman, and Lee made it back to ringside. Skipper hit a twisting pescado on Saturn. Slash hit Daniels with a jump kick. Mitchell gave Slash the spike, and he rammed it into Chris Daniels' head, busting him open. Ron Harris made it back tot he ring, and he was bleeding from the forehead as well. The Harris brothers hit double chokeslams on Sandman, Saturn and Lee. Skipper hit a top rope legdrop on Sandman. Daniels, a bloody mess, hit a double springboard moonsault on Slash for a two count. The match spilled to the floor again, with Perry Saturn powerbombing Daniels for a two count, which was broken up by Ron Harris. Slash hit Ron with a chair for a two count. Don Harris hit Slash with a title belt, and Ron covered for a two count. Daniels and Saturn were left alone in the ring again, and Daniels hit a enzugiri on Saturn, but missed a moonsault. Saturn hit a superkick on Daniels for a two count, then caught him with a Death Valley Driver, but Skipper broke up the pin. The Harris brothers hit an H Bomb on Saturn. Ron Killings and Mabel/Viscera came into the ring, and Killings laid out the Harris brothers, while Mabel chokeslammed Daniels. Mabel and Killings left, while Saturn covered Daniels for the pin at the twelve minute mark.

After the match, SEX attacked the New Church, and were about to put Slash and Lee through tables, but Jeff Jarrett ran in with a steel chair for the save. D'Lo Brown ran out and got in Jarrett's face, yelling at him, but when he turned away, Jarrett hit him with the chair, laying him out. That's how the show ended. ***end of show***

Thanks to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com for the following NWA-TNA PPV report:

This week's NWA: TNA PPV broadcast from The Nashville, TN opened with Scott D'Amore asking viewers not to pirate the broadcast.

A video feature on last week's developments aired, focusing on the new contenders to the NWA championship, the issues with Shane Douglas and Michael Shane, Raven and Vince Russo, AJ Styles vs. Abyss in the ladder match, and Jeff Jarrett's championship defense against Chris Harris. The feature ended with the words, "The Road To The Steel Cage Starts Tonight!"

The NWA: TNA opening video aired. Mike Tenay and Don West welcomed everyone to the show and previewed the matches for tonight.

The opening bout was a first round bout for the NWA Tag Team championship with Shane Douglas and Michael Shane (with Tracy Brooks) facing a mystery team. Shane Douglas said on the mic that he has struck a nerve with the low IQ fans and he said he made noise in TNA just like he promised. He said that no one made noise in the business like "The Franchise." He said that pundits have been placing bets that there is a problem with the New Franchise and people want to see he and Michael Shane fight. Douglas said that it won't happen and they were looking at the new NWA Tag Team champions. The mystery team was Christopher Daniels and Low Ki. Mike Tenay put over that the former members of Triple X have reunited for the tournament and it showed how important the tournament is. Ki is wearing a black nose strip over the bridge of his nose as he broke it while competing in ZERO-ONE in Japan recently. Low Ki started out hitting a power elbow on Shane. Mike Tenay mentioned that Raven and James Storm have been suspended one week without pay for their interference last week during the Jarrett vs. Harris match. Douglas tagged in and worked over Low Ki. Elix Skipper was shown looking surprised by the reappearance of Ki and Daniels. Ki his thrust chops on Douglas and tagged in Daniels. Daniels was nearly whipped into Ki but stopped himself. Douglas clotheslines Daniels. Shane hit a neckbreaker on Daniels for a near fall. He locked in a reverse chinlock on Daniels. Shane scored a nearfall. Low Ki made the hot tag and began chopping away on Shane. Ki hit a rolling kick on Douglas, then dropkicked Shane's legs. Ki hit the Krush Kombination kicks but Shane put his foot on the ropes to prevent a pinfall. Shane slammed Ki into the mat and took over briefly but Daniels tagged in. He held Shane in a bearhug while Ki came off with a springboard kick. Daniels hit a double springboard moonsault for a two count. Douglas pulled him off. Ki went for the Ki Krusher on Shane but Tracy climbed to the top. She jumped off but hit Shane. Ki and Daniels hit a combination powerbomb/neckbreaker on Shane for the pin. Shane and Tracy began arguing but Douglas began playing peacemaker. Michael Shane walked out on them. Your winners, advancing into the second round of the NWA Tag Team championship tournament are Christopher Daniels and Low Ki.

There was a ton of problems with the feed for this match with audio going out and the video freezing. I'm not sure if this was the feed or a local issue with my cable system though.

Scott Hudson interviewed Trinity, Kid Kash, David Young and Glen Gilberti about their match in the tournament tonight. Gilberti was talking up Young, saying it was his chance to be one half of the Tag Team champions. Hudson asked Kid Kash where his partner Johnny Swinger is tonight. Kash said that he couldn't trust Swinger and told him to stay home. He said that he learned last week he can't trust Gilberti, Young, and Swinger, and Trinity. For this week he went home and will be bringing someone from his roots from the "K I D Family." Gilberti said that if that is how Kash feels, then they will see him in the second round. They just spent a 30 minute countdown show announcing names for the tournament and now Swinger isn't there?

The next match was another first round tournament bout, featuring Glen Gilberti & David Young with Trinity vs. Slash and Sinn. No James Mitchell. Don West said they were here tonight to make their own statement after being left high and dry by Mitchell months ago. It started with all four brawling in the ring. Slash and Sinn hit double senton splashes on Young. Young battled back and tagged in Gilberti. Gilberti took over with a neckbreaker on Sinn. They doubleteamed him for several two counts but were unable to keep him down. Young slammed Sinn. Young went for a moonsault but missed. Sinn hit a series of left hands and punches. Young hit a spinebuster on Sinn but Slash interfered. Young hit an atomic drop while Gilberti scored with a running clothesline. Gilberti missed an elbow drop and tagged out. Slash tagged in and unloaded on Young and Gilberti. Slash hit a leaping boot to the head on Young. Slash hit a neckbreaker on Gilberti and went for a pin on Young after a powerslam but Gilberti interfered. Trinity attacked Sinn outside the ring. Slash dropkicked both Gilberti and Young. Slash hit the whirlybird to score the pin on Young. Your winners, Slash and Sinn, who advance in the NWA Tag Team championship tournament.

Backstage, Scott Hudson was backstage with BG Jammes who asked Vince Russo what he was going to do if Konnan didn't get to the show in time. Another advertised guy isn't there?!? Raven showed up and asked Russo why he had to find out he was suspended on the Internet and wanted to know where his title shot is. Raven said he was better than anyone else in the locker room and he was being politicked out. Russo said it was just business. Raven said that's what they always say. Raven tried to leave with Sabu. Russo said that Sabu wasn't going to be hurt by what his partner did (tell that to Julio Dinero) and was working tonight.

The next match was Monty Brown vs. Don Harris. Brown attacked Harris as he made his way to the ring and laid him out. Brown began yelling at them to ring the bell and began laying out referees as well. He put Harris' arm inside a steel chair and stomped it. Brown grabbed the ring mic and got in the ring. Brown said that the ring is his hunting ground and he didn't come for a beat down on Don Harris or referees. He said that it's open season on anyone who wants to come down to the ring and challenge him. Brown began telling the fans he would take anyone. Sabu hit the ring with a chair. Brown cut him off and began kicking and beating on him. He went for the Alpha bomb but Sabu turned it into a hurrancanrana. Sabu set up the chair and hit a triple jump moonsault. Sabu threw the chair at Brown, who ducked and bailed out of the ring and backed away glaring at Sabu. Sabu dared him to return to the ring.

Scott Hudson was backstage with Team Mexico and introduced Hector Garza as the new team captain. They plugged the next America's X Cup. They announced Juventud Guerrera is out of AAA and Heavy Metal is the new Team Member.

The next match is the next bout in the first round of the NWA Tag Team championship. Kid Kash came out alone and then another worker came to the ring. Mike Tenay asked who it was. If he doesn't know, I certainly don't. Their opponents were Sonny Siaki and Simon Diamond. Diamond and Kash started off going back and forth on the mat and counterwrestling. Diamond hit a few deep armdrags and cinched in an armbar. Siaki tagged in and caught Kash during a leapfrog attempt and slammed him down. Kash was flapjacked down by Siaki and Diamond. Diamond hit the Simon Series but Kash got out before the third suplex. Kash tagged in his unnamed family member partner. UFM (as I will now refer to him) tossed Kash down on Diamond. Diamond and UFM began battling back and forth. UFM hit a bit boot for a near fall and tagged in. Kash was rocket launched out of the corner on Diamond for a near fall that was broken up when Siaki interfered. Kash kneed Diamond in the back. Kash and UFM hit a double back body drop. Mike Tenay noted that Konnan has not arrived at the building still. I think it's storyline now. UFM hit a sideslam on Diamond. He's reminding me of Test with his work. Seriously. Kash bit Diamond on the face. Kash hits a dropkick on Diamond. UFM tags in and stomps away on Diamond. Kash moonsaults off UFM's shoulders but misses. Diamond and Kash make the hot tags to Siaki and UFM. Siaki chops away at UFM with no effect but hits a clothesline. Siaki covered Kash but UFM interfered. UFM and Kash hit a double tackle on Siaki. Diamond superkicked UFM, who bumped over the top to the floor. Diamond hit a slingshot cross body onto UFM. Kash scored a nearfall on Siaki. UFM grabbed a steel pipe from the ringside table and cracked Siaki in the head. Kash rolled him up and hooked the tight for the pin. Jeremy Borash announced, "The winners of this match, Kid Kash and his partner." They advance.

Scott Hudson was backstage with AJ Styles. Hudson noted that Styles doesn't have a match tonight and asked him how he felt about that. Styles said he has never sat on the sidelines in his entire life and he has to wait for the NWA championship now. Vince Russo asked him to go talk to him. Styles said that he hasn't spoken to Russo in months and he doesn't want to talk to him now. He said the last time he spoke to Russo he told him not to do something stupid and Russo didn't listen. AJ said he never lost his match last week and told Russo to put him in the number one contender's match tonight. Russo said no. AJ said it was all Raven's fault and to put him in the ring with Raven tonight. Russo told AJ to trust him. AJ scoffed and said he would never trust Russo.

The next bout is the final NWA Tag Team championship tournament bout as The Naturals took on...BG Jammes, who came out alone and was announced as representing 3 Live Kru. The Naturals doubled up on Jammes. They spent a lot of time working over Jammes. Jammes came back with a double clothesline. Konnan showed up in street clothes limping and tagged in. Konnan hit a rolling thunder lariat. The ref got bumped. Konnan grabbed a chair but Andy Douglas tossed powder in his face. They clobbered Konnan with a chair and pinned him. Your winners, advancing in the tournament, The Naturals.

They went to a video feature on last week's Jeff Jarrett vs. Chris Harris NWA championship bout. In a pre-taped promo, Jeff Jarrett said that Chris Harris wasn't ready just like everyone said. He said that now it's the road to the cage with the winner of Abyss vs. Ron Killings facing Chris Harris, with that winner facing Jarrett. He said he's going to sit on the sidelines and watch who ends up facing them. He put over his visit to AAA and how he took out AAA in front of 18,000 fans.

In the center of the ring, Mike Tenay introduced Sting. Sting came out to a huge reaction. Tenay asked Sting to bring everyone up to speed about the movie on his life. Sting said that he is making a movie about his life from when he was a kid to today. Sting said they would be filming for another week in Nashville and thanked the NWA, TNA, and Jeff and Jerry Jarrett for letting them use "this wrestling facility." Tenay asked Sting about the new direction for TNA. Sting said it's about time that wrestlers started wrestling. He said that it's about time that Nashville gets to see wrestling the way that they used to. Sting said that if Vince Russo isn't being true with his intentions for TNA, it's just a matter of time before he is found out. Tenay asked him his memories of his first NWA championship win. Sting said that the win was in 1990 in Baltimore, Maryland and it was his first taste of the belt and it felt really good. He put over the NWA belt as the belt that means everything. Sting said that he was born to be a wrestler not a movie star and will be on TNA next Wednesday and promised next week would be "Showtime." Tenay told him he would always have a home with TNA. The crowd loved this segment as Sting was playing to them big time.

Backstage, Scott Hudson interviewed Ron Killings. He said that Killings has been an NWA champion before and understands the pressure, which Abyss couldn't understand. Killings said that the old politics in the back got pushed aside, so he's back on the road to the top of the mountain. He said that 3 Live Kru will always be together but he wants a piece of gold. Goldilocks showed up and asked Killings if he was ready for Abyss. Killings said he was and asked why Goldy wanted to know. She said, "Because, he's ready for you."

Abyss made his way to the ring. Killings crotched Abyss in the ringpost early. He dove in, but Abyss caught him. Killings hit an enziguiri on Abyss, knocking him out of the ring with a clothesline over the top. They brawled around the ringside area. Abyss crotched him on the guard rail. They brawled into the crowd. Abyss dragged Killings back into the ring and tried to hit him with a chair. Killings avoided the shot and hit an axe kick into the chair. Killings hit a flying forearm. He positioned the steel chair and hit Air Sabu off of it. Killings continued to work over Abyss with a series of punches and a low headbutt. He hit a dropkick off the middle turnbuckle. Killings hit a gourdbuster on Abyss for the pin but Raven pulled the referee out of the ring before he could count three. Killings was distracted and was caught by Abyss with his sit down torture rack. Abyss went for the pin but Killings kicked out. Raven remained at ringside. Killings was caught with the black hole slam. Abyss went for the pin but Raven hit him with a chair. They rang the bell and announced the match was being thrown out. Raven hit Killings with the chair as well. AJ Styles hit the ring in street clothes and attacked Raven. He unloaded on Raven with a series of right hands. He was caught by Abyss with the Black Hole Slam. Killings attacked Abyss and then Raven. Raven began choking out Styles. The brawl continued. The locker room and security cleared out abd began holding everyone back from each other. Abyss broke free and went after Killings. Styles dive over the top and took out Raven. Killings said that the entire time everyone else complained, he didn't say one word. Killings said that Raven isn't supposed to be here tonight and asked Vince Russo to let them take care of Raven the way it used to be done in the locker room. Killings asked that all four battle for the shot next week.

Backstage, Scott Hudson interviewed Jerry Lynn and Elix Skipper. Hudson asked what it was going to take for Team NWA to get another shot at the America's X Cup. Skipper said that whether the UK or Mexico win, they want a shot. Lynn said he wants all the X Teams together at once and to have a tournament to see who the best team is once and for all. Skipper and Lynn said that if either of them end up against each other tonight, it's just business. Scott D'Amore showed up and said that it's fantasy because Petey Williams from Team Canada was winning. D'Amore said that he liked the idea of the tournament because then it would be an even grander stage for Team NWA to choke. Lex Luger made a surprise and un-announced appearance on last night’s NWA:TNA pay per view offering, coming out at the end of the main event match featuring AJ Styles vs. Abyss. In the main event tables match, both men were tied on one table fall each and the ref was knocked out. Styles put Abyss through a table, but the ref didn’t see it, and Luger came out and put Styles through the remaining table

Luger, who made his last national wrestling appearance on November 12th as a ‘favor’ to his long time friend Sting, is now speculated to be the tag partner for Abyss in the Abyss/partner vs. Styles/partner match on next week’s broadcast.

Some may say having Luger turn up just for an un-announced end of show scene is a bit of a waste, given he is reportedly getting $5,000 per TNA shot, but it could also be considered a way of legitimatising the whole TNA “surprises” draw which was a big feature of TNA in 2003, with names such as Vader and WWE’s Mabel making surprise appearances.

PPV results coming later today!

2/18/04 Programming notes for TNA: AJ Styles tells us stealing cable is wrong!

***end of PPV***

FEBRUARY 11, 2003 LIVE FROM NASHVILLE, TENN.

-A bunch of recaps aired from last week's big angles, which have little or nothing to do with this week's show, but at least those who paid to see Jeff Jarrett got a dose of him and his lawyer talking about power struggles behind the scenes.

-Mike Tenay and Don West introduced the show, then previewed the tournament and explained the rules. In Demand had some problems with the feed, so most of this, along with interviews from both teams, was mostly missed.

1 -- CHRIS SABIN vs. JUVENTUD GUERERRA

In this week's Torch, Jason Powell's "On Topic" column is titled "The Little Things in Wrestling That Drive Me Nuts Lately." I've got one of my own. It's when wrestling promotions contradict themselves between their website press releases and the broadcasts. TNA advertised on its website and press releases this week that the America's Cup was prerecorded. They did that in part to tout the finals of the tournament as a "match of the year candidate." Then, in the opening minutes of the PPV, Mike Tenay said Jeremy Borash was fired last week and is still missing this week. TNA's own website says that this show was taped over the last few weeks. There's no need to have conflicting information that makes Tenay look stupid or makes viewers thing the promotion is trying to pull the wool over their eyes. The audio mixing on this show is pretty bad to the point of being nauseating to listen to. Good action in the opening minutes with back and forth action. Juvi the Move Stealer, as Rock essentially called him in his "Torch Talk" a few years ago, did the 619 on Sabin at 6:00. They went into a series of pinfall reversals at 7:00 ending with Juvi coming out on top.

WINNER: The picture and audio went blank as they went to the finishing sequence, but later Tenay said Juventud won the match.

STAR RATING: Approx. ** -- nice action, but having not seem the finish, and since it lasted less than ten minutes, it's difficult to put a firm rating on it.

-Jeff Jarrett and Shane Douglas and their cronies yapped backstage about the new Director of Authority.

-Tenay said he didn't know who the new DOA is going to be.

2 -- HECTOR GARZA vs. SONJAY DUTT

During the opening minute of this match, In Demand put a little statement at the bottom of the screen stating "Video Difficulties." A lot of good that does. Since the show isn't live, TNA can't have Tenay fill viewers in on what they missed or replay the lost finish. The much larger Garza dominated Dutt, including the insulting "lifting of the shoulder at the two count" routine at 4:00. Dutt then came back and was suddenly able to execute a flip over the top rope at Garza in the ring. Garza caught him, dropped him over the top rope on the back of his neck, then powerbombed him to the mat. Garza then hit an impressive twisting moonsault for the win.

WINNER: Garza at 4:55.

STAR RATING: * -- Short squash, but good for a short squash. Some nice energy from both wrestlers.

-Hudson interviewed Jerry Lynn about being down 0-2. Lynn said they have no choice but to go 2-0 in the next two matches.

3 -- JERRY LYNN vs. MR. AGUILA (a/k/a Essa Rios from WWF)

Tenay called Lynn one of the pioneers of the X Division. Now "Audio Difficulties" showed up on the screen. The match was a solid exhibition of some good moves, but these matches are just getting started when they go to the finishes.

WINNER: Lynn at 7:45.

STAR RATING: *3/4

-James Mitchell told Jarrett that he will do anything for him. He said he's already gotten rid of Raven for him and told Jarrett he hoped that would be remembered down the line. Jarrett said he'd like hem to get rid of Sandman and Terry Funk. Jarrett asked if they were sure they got rid of Raven. C.M. Punk said they are sure because his destiny was to win the NWA Title, but because of them he can never get another title shot. Jarrett asked who the new DOA is. They speculated it was Tenay. Jarrett said, "I knew it was!"

4 -- ABISMO NEGRO vs. ELIX SKIPPER

When West confronted Tenay about whether he was DOA, Tenay accused West of being naive for believing those guys. Hey, Tenay believed Glenn Gilberti when he claimed either Simon Diamond or Johnny Swinger had signed a loyalty pledge. Skipper walked the top rope and took Negro to the mat with a head scissors. Negro came back with dominating offense. Skipper made a comeback, but Negro finished him off with a Majistral Cradle for the win.

WINNER: Negro at 7:03.

STAR RATING: *3/4 -- More solid action.

-Juventud cut a promo in Spanish with a translator stating the obvious. "We're going to win." When he asked if he thought Low Ki and Christopher Daniels were present, Juvi blew his top and apparently said it doesn't matter, Team AAA would still win.

5 -- SONJAY DUTT & JERRY LYNN vs. ABISMO NEGRO & JUVENTUD GUERRERA

Dutt sold the majority of the opening six minutes with a few hope spots thrown in before hot-tagging Lynn. Lynn got in some early offense, but was quickly grounded by the Mexicans. Abismo hit a frog splash on Lynn at 7:15. Dutt got a hot-tag at 8:00 and hit a flurry of offense at 8:00. West said, "That's the Sonjay Dutt we know!" Juvi fired back with some chops. Dutt flipped into the ring and hit a huracanrana into a roll-up for a near fall. Lynn then battled Negro at ringside. Dutt flew over the top rope with a flip dive that overshot Negro at ringside. Lynn knocked Juvi to the mat and Dutt hit an elbow drop off the ropes for a near fall at 10:15. Juvi hit an inverted huracanrana for a near fall ending with a Lynn save. Lynn and Dutt each had their opponents down for pins and the ref counted both, but both Mexicans kicked out before three. Four-way action ensued. Negro rolled through on a sunset flip attempt by Dutt and scored the pin.W

WINNERS: Negro & Juvi at 11:45.

STAR RATING: **3/4 -- Best match of the night so far. Exciting highspots and all-action, with some psychology thrown in for good measure. -Hudson interviewed Sabin and Skipper who both said they'd work together for the good of the team.

6 -- ELIX SKIPPER & CHRIS SABIN vs. MR. AGUILA & HECTOR GARZA

Tenay and West talked about how shocked they were that the Americans didn't win the singles matches. Tenay said he thought the Mexicans would have the advantage in the tag matches because they're most used to teaming with each other.

WINNERS: Sabin & Skipper when Sabin pinned Garza at 10:43.

STAR RATING: **1/4

-Jarrett demanded from some backstage workers and referees that they vow 100 percent loyalty. Then he demanded to know from Hudson whether he had heard about the new DOA. Hudson said, "Maybe Tenay." Jarrett said, "I knew it!"

-Terry Funk entered the ring and said he doesn't like being called a living legend because he loves the wrestling business as a job and he will love it until he dies. I don't quite understand what he was getting at. He said he called Raven and asked him to return to TNA and be his partner. He said Raven agreed to return. They spliced the interview heavily.

-Tenay and West talked about the news that Raven & Funk will face against C.M. Punk & Julio Dinero next week. West also plugged the debut of "Playing Fair with Jonny" featuring Chyna Doll next week. Tenay announced the new DOA would be revealed next week.

7 -- SKIPPER & LYNN & DUTT & SABIN vs. AGUILA & JUVI & GARZA & NEGRO -- Finals in the X Cup Tournament

The match began with Skipper vs. Juvi in the ring. Tenay and West commented that the Americans couldn't afford to suffer many eliminations since they were already behind on points and would lose two more points for each elimination since it was 5-3 entering this match. Lynn and Aguila entered the ring next. Dutt hit the first flying move to the floor onto Negro. West said, "Dutt's moves have moves!" That's a good line. They settled into a one- on-one battle with Lynn chinlocking Juvi. Juvi tossed Lynn off, then went for a suplex. Lynn reversed it and suplexed Juvi, then gave him a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Lynn then tagged in Skipper. Skipper let Juvi tag out to Garza, which made him look pretty dumb considering Lynn had just really worn down Juvi. Garza immediately overpowered Skipper with some shots in the corner. He then gave Skipper a huracanrana off the top rope. Negro then hit a frog splash and went for the pin. Lynn entered the ring and applied a reverse chinlock. Aguila did the same to Lynn. Sabin then hit Aguila. Juvi then nailed Sabin. There didn't seem to be any semblance of rules to what anyone could or couldn't do, which made tagging seem largely irrelevant since the ref never punished anyone for interfering or even entering the match without a tag. Stuff like that should make sense and be explained. Dutt went to work on Garza, but Garza came back right away with an easy pin on Dutt. Boy, Dutt sure was the whipping boy of this tournament. That made the score 7-3. Negro faced off against Skipper next. Skipper applied his Prime Time Submission. Negro tapped out, but it took the ref about ten seconds to communicate that fact to the bell ringer, who didn't understand his hand signals. Aguila dove onto Skipper at ringside with a dive over the top rope. Lynn did the same to Aguila seconds later. Sabin went to the top rope, but Juvi caught him up there and gave him a huracanrana attempt, which sent Sabin onto Lynn, Skipper, and Aguila at ringside. Garza then did a twisting corkscrew plancha off the top rope onto everyone on the floor. Back in the ring, Garza powerbombed Sabin in center ring, then went for a moonsault, but Sabin moved out of his path. Sabin then scored a two count. Sabin gave Garza a cradle slam for the win, making the score 7-7 at 12:30. Skipper faced off against Aguila. Michael Shane stepped out onto the stage to watch the match. Aguila hit Skipper with a shooting star press at 13:30 for the win. Skipper hugged Aguila's head during the cover, as if to be sure he pinned him, which looked bad. Juvi worked on Sabin next. They exchanged a series of pin attempts and reversals. At 15:30 both Sabin and Juvi were down. Sabin scored a near fall at 16:15. Juvi gave Sabin a cradle suplex for a pin at 17:00 to put Team AAA ahead 9-7. Lynn and Aguila entered against each other. Lynn gave Aguila a running suplex onto the back of Aguila head for a pin at 17:40. That left the team captains, Lynn and Juvi, against each other with the scores 9-9. Juvi and Lynn circled each other carefully in center ring. Lynn had a limp. Juvi dropkicked Lynn's sore lead and then applied a half Boston crab. Juvi switched into a figure-four at 19:15. At 20:15 Lynn reached the bottom rope. Lynn gave Juvi a TKO for a near fall. Juvi fought back with a Juvi Driver for a near fall at 21:00. Team NWA cheered on from the stage as Team AAA watched from a more advantageous position at ringside. Juvi springboarded into the ring, but Lynn stepped back and Juvi hit the mat hard. They went for a backslide against each other. Juvi turned it into a suplex attempt. Lynn escaped. Juvi gave Lynn his 911 Juvi Driver for the pin. Team AAA celebrated with Antonio Pena in center ring with a bottle of tequila and the America's Cup Trophy.

WINNERS: Team AAA when Juvi pinned Lynn at 22:13.

STAR RATING: **** -- A very good spotfest, one of the better matches in TNA in months. They did a nice job with the drama of the points, which AAA won 13-9 over Team NWA.

-Jarrett ordered everyone out of his ring. He ordered Tenay enter the ring. Don Callis made sure they all left the ring as Jarrett demanded Tenay tell him who is the new NWA Director of Authority. Tenay said, "I have no idea!" Jarrett threatened to fire him. Tenay screamed at Jarrett that he lives for TNA. He said he flies to Nashville from Las Vegas every week because he believes in TNA and that it's going to the top whether he likes it not. Jarrett told Tenay he was giving him one final opportunity to fess up. Jarrett told him if he doesn't tell him he will be fired. "You don't have the balls to fire me, Jarrett," Tenay screamed. Jarrett said, "Mike Tenay, and everybody in this building, I want everyone to hear this - you are fired!" West screamed, "No! Hell no, you bastard! You can't do it." Jarrett ordered Tenay out of the ring. West said Tenay is TNA. ***end of show***
